[identity profile] hp-soa-mod.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] hp_shoreofangst
If you find you have a problem, a questions, or a suggestion for the com- then this is the post you reply to.

I shall try to answer you to the best to my abilities, and I am always open for discussions.

The plan for this post is to help me to figure out if there is need for, and if yes how to put together a FAQ in the long run, but for that I need FAQ first, so please, ask away!

However, if you find yourself with a question, that you don't want to ask here "in the open", but still need an answer too, feel free to pm this mod account- and i will get back to you via pm too.
Also if I have managed to do everything right, anonymous comments should be allowed.

This may have been answered in the previous post but if I were to make a prompt and the pairing was, let's say: Harry/Scorpius, would the era be decided by who is currently at Hogwarts (i.e. Scorpius, or Scorpius having just graduated let's say) or would it be the 4th category which I think was for "cross-gen"

I'm excited about this as it's not a fest style I've seen before and I'm looking forward to all the juicy feels!! I have a few suggestions.

Maybe Slash/Gen/Het/Fem rather than the eras would be simpler? It's more straight forward and I think there's more people out there who will be looking to write for a certain gender dynamic than for a specific era combination. As someone who writes only slash but has very few off-limit pairings, I will have to read all prompts on every post to find the one I like best. So slash/gen/fem/het potentially means people would have less to sift through to find a prompt that suits them?

Also I personally find the prompt template a bit OTT. It felt a bit more like I was filling out a gift template than a prompt. For me, the point of prompting is to inspire someone to do something with an idea that I wouldn't have thought of, so being too specific with do's and don't's is rather counterproductive. That might just be me though!

The era divide does make sense when you put it like that. Maybe after round one hold a poll to find out whether people predominantly search for a specific character/pairing or more broadly for a gender dynamic? As for threesomes, I'd say allow posting the same prompt to multiple threads, like you've allowed here. So a FMF threesome could go under het and fem, if that's the type of action you're hoping for, or just het. Subject line gender dynamic is a great idea in theory, but not everyone will remember to do it. If it was in the body of the template, those who are looking for say, just slash, can ctrl+F and search for it.

As for the template, I think it depends on the reason people are prompting. My prompts tend to be vague because I want to see someone else take the idea to places I may not have thought of (otherwise, I'd just save them to write myself) but I've seen others who give very detailed prompts and obviously have the overall feel of the fic in mind quite clearly. Some people also seem to go between the two, and sometimes it depends on the fest. I think it's probably that people get much more specific with their OTPs because they're protective of their head canon. Maybe templates should have an OTP/OT3 warning box or something LOL.

More prompts will be forthcoming!
